Dead Prez (Dead Presidents, en rapport avec les billets de dollars américains qui représentent des visages d'anciens présidents étatsuniens) est un duo de rap alternatif/rap undergound formé de stic.man et M-1. Leur célébrité est dûe à leur style percutant et leurs textes engagés, ayant pour thèmes le racisme, la pédagogie critique, l'activisme contre l'hypocrisie des différents gouvernements étatsuniens des dernières décennies, et le contrôle tentaculaire des grandes entreprises sur les médias, en particulier sur les labels hip-hop. dead prez ont pris leur position dès leur premier album, déclarant sur leur-titre phare, « I'm an African », que le groupe se situait « quelque part entre N.W.A. et Public Enemy ».
